DESCRIPTION
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
This unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing/regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins
• Pre-course study: Students may be required to undertake online pre-course work prior to attending the face to face session depending on the course delivery mode.
• Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS
In order to successfully complete this course, students will be required to complete both written and practical assessments.
CERTIFICATE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS
Renewal of certificates is required after 12 months.
